The Department of Commerce of Santhigiri College of Computer Sciences organized a two-day workshop on “Financial Education Programme for Young Citizens” on 3rd and 4th March 2026 at Fr. Bede Memorial Hall. The programme was conducted in association with National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) and Vivriti Capital with the objective of enhancing financial awareness among students and young citizens.
The workshop was led by Manoj T Neelakantan, Former AGM of IDBI Bank and a certified trainer from Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The sessions focused on key aspects of financial literacy including savings, investment planning, capital markets, risk management, and responsible financial decision-making. Through interactive discussions and practical insights, participants gained a better understanding of modern financial systems and investment opportunities.
The programme was conducted from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on both days and witnessed active participation from students of the commerce department. The event was coordinated by Ms. Rose Mary Thomas, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce. The programme was organized under the leadership of Dr. Fr. Jose John CMI, Principal, and Mr. Mejo John Johnson, Head of the Department of Commerce.
The workshop served as a valuable platform for students to develop essential financial knowledge and skills required for responsible financial planning and informed investment decisions in the future.
