PSYPHORIA 2021
The department of Psychology organized a an Online Competition named PSYPHORIA 2021 was conducted for the Higher Secondary students across Kerala from 30th May to 4th June 2021. A total of 172 students participated in the competition.
The department of Psychology organized International Women’s Day celebration on 8th March, 2022 for providing awareness on the need of women empowerment and gender equality.

PSYCHOLOGY AS A CAREER: Career Orientation Class for Students
The department of Psychology organized a one day workshop on Career Orientation for giving basic knowledge about various fields in Psychology, Scope and Need on 25/07/2022 for the Second year and Third year students of Psychology. From this program the Students got the information about how to prepare for PG entrance in reputed Universities.
MANAVYOOHA 2K22 -EXPLORE YOUR EMOTIONS
As a part of Celebrating World Mental Health day the Department of Psychology has conducted a Mental Health week Celebration from 10/10/2022 Monday to 14/10/2022 Friday. The theme of Mental health day was “Make Mental health and well-being for all global Priority”. As a part of it the programme has been named as Manavyooha, which means exploring the Mind. The aim of the Manavyooha was to give the idea to the students that, being happy always or sticking to one emotion is not the symptom of Mental health but, when we understand the emotion that we feel, accept it and explore it, it will ensure Mental health. Because of that each day was focused on each emotion.
Day 1- Insight
The first day of Mental health awareness week was focused on giving an insight about Mental health and the programs conducted by the department related to it. This day includes flash mob, Psychology Department Magazine Inauguration and Mental health awareness class for various departments conducted by Final year Psychology students.
Day 2- Happiness
The second day of Mental health awareness week was focused on the emotion Happiness. Trolls are the ones that the students enjoy the most in Social Media. So the department of Psychology conducted an offline troll making competition. The representatives from each class irrespective of departments, participated in the competition.
Day 3- Surprise
The third day of Mental health awareness week was focused on the emotion Surprise. Mentalism and Hypnotism are the two words that come to mind when we hear about Psychology. So to know about ‘What is Mentalism and Hypnotism and its myths and facts’ the department of Psychology conducted an invited talk for Psychology and MSW students.
Day 4- Fear
The fourth day of Mental health awareness week was focused on the emotion Fear. Parapsychology is the field of Pseudo Psychology which focuses on Paranormal activities. So the department of Psychology conducted an exhibition on Parapsychology in a horror atmosphere to reveal the facts behind supernatural beliefs and Paranormal activities. It was a huge success in Revealing the dark side of our belief system and gave an awareness about actual facts behind concepts like ghosts, spirit,etc.
Day 5- The Final Day: Explore your Emotions
On the final day it was focused on the Slogan-Explore your Emotions. On that day the exhibition on Parapsychology got continued and Screened a Psychological thriller movie ‘Silence of Lambs’ for the rest of the Psychology students.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT at Karunasai Psychopark
An Industrial visit for Final year Psychology students on Karunasai Psychopark was conducted on 22/10/2022 Saturday. Karunasai Psychopark is the edutainment Park which is themed on Psychology. The park gave the true wisdom of Psychology to the students through Portrayed Models, Statutes, Instruments and Interactive sessions with Experienced Psychologists.
SOCIAL EXPOSURE ACTIVITY FOR FINAL YEAR STUDENTS
Psychology is the field that nurtures socially responsible mental health professionals, so as a part of it to develop social management skills among Psychology students, The department has given an opportunity to the final year students to take classes in different schools. This was also focused on creating an awareness among adolescents. Students have chosen basic sex education and social skills development as topics based on contemporary relevance.
VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITY OF PSYCHOLOGY SECOND YEAR STUDENTS
As a part of it to develop social management skills among Psychology students, the department has organized a volunteering activity in different Mental health Institutions. The event helps the students in creating confidence to deal with Differently abled people in different Mental health Institutions and to manage them.
TRIBAL VISIT at Kozhimala Tribal Settlement
To understand the psychological processes behind human behavior and to study the implications of Social Psychology in different settings a one trip was organized to KozhimalaTribal Settlement for Second year Psychology Students on 17/12/2022 Saturday . It also gave the opportunity to the students to interact with the Tribal community and understand their lives.
Women’s Day Celebration
Department of Psychology in association with Women’s Cell of Santhigiri College celebrated International Women’s day celebration. As part of Women’s Day celebrations a debate competition was conducted on 7ᵗʰ March 2023 from 1.30pm to 4.20pm. The celebration was held on the theme "Embrace Equity", theme is to get the world talking about why equal opportunities aren't enough. The concept of gender equity recognizes that men and women have different needs and power and these differences should be identified and addressed in a manner that rectifies the imbalances between genders. This may include equal treatment that is different but considered equivalent in terms of rights, benefits, obligations and opportunities. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action. A team of three students from each department was invited to participate in the debate competition. As the competition started, all participants geared up and were fully passionate to win. Towards the conclusion Department of social work won the first prize followed by Department of psychology. The debate competition was very successful in creating a healthy discussion on various topics and was also able to create awareness on how important it is to know about their gender equity in the contemporary world.
2023-24
WORKSHOP ON INTRODUCTION TO COGNITIVE BEHAVIOUR THERAPY
Department of Psychology organized CBT training programme for psychology students on 14th July2023. The resource person was Mr.Bright Jacob, Clinical psychologist and the therapist. Major aim of the programme was to provide students with practical exposure to practising CBT through which they could get a glimpse on the practise of CBT and different dynamics in the practice of CBT.
The Psychology Department organized a mental health day to enhance students' psychology awareness and promote understanding of psychological knowledge. Students received education on the significance of psychology to foster awareness skills.
Day 1 – Exhibition (MANONJANA)
The Psychology Department organized an exhibition on psychological games and tests, aiming to enhance psychological skills and awareness about their applications. This event was a continuous program that lasted for three days.
Almost 300 students from nearby schools have visited the exhibition. The exhibition was conducted from 9.10.23 -11.10.23 .
The exhibition educated students on various types of psychological tests, psychological disorders and treatment approach. Students learned about the relevance and applications of psychological tests.
The program successfully fostered a common understanding and deeper knowledge among students about psychological tests, meeting its objective of creating awareness in this regard. A total of 340 students from different schools have participated in the exhibition.
Day 2 - Crime Investigation (MANOSAMASYA)
On October 11, 2023, a two-hour crime investigation competition was held, Providing students with a valuable opportunity to enhance their investigative skills. The event aimed to sharpen participants' abilities in the field of crime investigation.
Day 3 – JPMR (MANOMUKTHI)
This program aimed to raise awareness about Jacobson's progressive muscular relaxation (JPMR), emphasizing the contemporary need for psychological relaxation. JPMR provides deep relaxation for the mind and body and helps in treating tension headaches, migraines, insomnia, high blood pressure etc. This session helped participants in deep relaxation .
Day 4 – Cultural Event (MANONAATYA)
A dance competition was conducted based on various themes related to mental health.
